So reads a headline in the Vancouver Sun today.
This means pharmaceutical companies will stop using chimpanzees as test dummies to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of medicines and cosmetics, practises that are horribly cruel.
Apparently they are switching to alternative types of testing.
All I can say is…
Hallelujah!!!!
And it’s about damn time.
I couldn’t agree more! I wonder what induced these companies to change.
According to the article, Louisa, the change is driven by improved technology (ie. computer simulations), animal alternatives (smaller animals) the use of bacteria or cells, and pressure from animal rights groups. Let’s hope this trend soon includes ALL animals!
It is a start~
Yes it is. Finally.
Neat!
